The Sarmizegetusa Regia application uses augmented reality to create an enhanced experience for tourists following the defined route within the archaeological site of Sarmizegetusa Regia.
Using different technologies, the users phone manages to "feel" its environment, understand the world and interact with the information.
We guide tourists on a defined route through the archaeological site (using mainly the GPS sensor but also accelerometer and gyroscope) and in certain clearly defined areas on the route we allow the user to virtually place reconstructed 3D objects or watch a movie made following scans with LIDAR technology .The application displays various text and image information relevant to each area and allows the user to see reconstructions of the walls or gateway to the fortification.Sarmizegetusa Regia was the capital and the most important military, religious and political center of the Dacian state before the wars with the Roman Empire, after the conquest of Sarmizegetusa Regia, at the beginning of the 2nd century AD, the Roman soldiers built a fort here whose walls of stone delimited an area of ​​approximately three hectares (terraces I – V), using both the limestone blocks from the structure of the old fortification, as well as hundreds of architectural pieces of andesite and limestone from the edifices of the Dacian sanctuary, destroyed in turn during the confrontations .
Traces of barracks were discovered at various points inside, and the Roman bath was identified outside.
